From merging form, function, and aesthetic innovation comes Mimosa, the versatile vase and plant holder designed by the celebrated French designer Ionna Vautrin. Launched in April 2024, Mimosa has quickly cemented itself as a must-have for design enthusiasts, bridging the gap between indoor and outdoor living with its timeless elegance. Now, S-CAB has unveiled a numbered limited edition of this iconic piece, combining gold and aquamarine in a striking new design that elevates its decorative appeal.
The limited edition is more than a glamorous evolution; it is a collector’s item. Each vase is accompanied by a personal touch from Ionna Vautrin – a card featuring a message and a drawing by the designer, adding an exclusive charm just in time for the holiday season. Whether placed in a contract setting like a chic hotel or used to enrich the ambiance of a private home, Mimosa seamlessly adapts to its surroundings, making it an essential addition to any space.
Mimosa represents S-CAB’s first step into the world of accessories, seamlessly complementing the brand’s renowned collection of chairs, upholstered pieces, and tables. This launch marks an exciting evolution in their portfolio, highlighting a focus on versatility and sophisticated design. With its elegant and balanced form, Mimosa effortlessly transitions between roles as a practical planter and a striking decorative piece, whether enhancing a lush outdoor space or adding charm to a minimalist indoor setting.
The vase’s defining feature lies in its thoughtful combination of colors and shapes. “Flowers and small plants are the protagonists of this pair of vases with generous, refined, and colorful contours,” explains Ionna Vautrin. “Their timeless silhouette enhances rustic or sophisticated floral arrangements. Like an abstraction, their morphology mimics a flower composed of a peduncle and a corolla. A color gradient marks this division and underlines the design character of these everyday vases.”
After graduating in industrial design in 2002, Ionna Vautrin established her own studio in 2011 and began collaborating with some of the most prominent names in design. In June 2023, she was entrusted with designing the chairs that will greet visitors at the reopening of Notre Dame de Paris.
The French designer is renowned for her natural talent in transforming public and private spaces with soft, precise forms. Her creations span from small objects to large-scale projects, aiming to be simple and surprising. Combining poetry with industry, her work features a harmonious blend of geometric and organic shapes, vibrant colors, intuitive functionality, and a warm, familiar presence. This synergy made her collaboration with S-CAB, a brand celebrated for crafting furniture that seamlessly fits into any style or setting, a perfect match.
