Joie De Vivre is an award-winning interior design project by Studio Brie, with the founder Briellyn Turton as lead designer, for a Bon Vivant couple with a personal passion for wellness.

The clients asked the studio to deliver a home defined by a duality of indulgence and mindfulness, which meant allowing areas devoted to hosting and hospitality to express the more indulgent side of their lifestyle, while ensuring that the private rooms offered a quieter atmosphere that supported their interest in wellness.

The kitchen reflects the clients’ love of hospitality and hosting and was designed to be “the envy of friends”, rather than simply the traditional “heart of the home”. The upper cabinetry features a two-tone metallic lattice imported from New Zealand, while Smeraldo Quartzite is used underneath it. This stone was selected for its ability to be perceived as either “meditative” or “vibrant”, depending on the mood.

In the private areas, the design focuses on tactility and stillness. These spaces include the clients’ own private bathrooms, taking on the idea of “his and hers”, as well as a custom-made-to-size stone bath. These elements aim to balance the bolder features in the home’s social areas, creating rooms where clients can connect with themselves and with the people closest to them.

Studio Brie focused on the clients’ individuality and based the design intent and resolution solely on who they are at their core. From this starting point, the studio created spaces that are both functional and aligned with how the clients live, with the aim that they will remain relevant to them over time.
