The Neuron-System sofa was designed by Ruphus Sten, from RuphusSten Studio, to resemble, as the name suggests, the neural system or the internal structure of the cell. To achieve this, Sten used a shiny, chrome-like material as a base in the shape of a complex network of loops and branches. Intricate and reflexive, this chair has a modern and sleek look to it, able to bring any space to the next level.

On top of the shiny metallic base, large spheres form the seating area. Rough-textured and in clear contrast with the smooth base, these spheres remind one of the atom’s protons, electrons, and neutrons. Since these sitting spots are placed at different heights, they create multiple seating options, which makes this chair quite dynamic as it can be used in several social settings.

Sarto Series

Salon is part of the Sarto series of functional and adaptable seating options inspired by the modernist architect Mies Van der Rohe’s philosophy of “less is more“, which originates from Robert Browning’s 1855 poem “Andrea Del Sarto”. This collection was designed by Louis Béliveau, from La Firme, with the intention to minimise costs and materials, simplify production, and maximise customizability without compromising on taste, quality, or comfort.

Salon features a fully recyclable, laser-cut aluminium base, a design choice that reduces the need for manual labour and makes the production process more efficient. Using this material means that the smaller components, like the leg pieces, can be cut from the same sheet as the seat piece, which greatly reduces material waste and the weight of the piece itself. Also, by minimising the use of seating foam, the design is light both visually and materially, as it requires less upholstery fabric. The sofa’s straightforward, geometric design is dressed in orange, from the seat to the aluminium.

The Sarto series includes several other pieces:

  • Banc: A sleek, basic commercial bench that can be customised with side tables at various heights and is available in sizes that can seat from two to six people.
  • Salon: A fully customisable minimalist sofa with options for adding armrests and choosing different frame colours and fabric prints.
  • Andrea: This piece is an anomaly within the series and doesn’t fit the standard definition of a sofa.

RAFT

The RAFT sofa was designed by Ukrainian designer Denis Sokolov, from SVOYA studio, for DONNA Fashion Furniture. The design was inspired by a dinghy, which is why it boasts such rounded, inflated shapes with rope-like stitching holding everything together. Completely customisable, each RAFT sofa is individually finished by the factory’s designers, ensuring that every piece meets high standards and is unique to the customer’s specifications.

The designers chose high-quality Austrian Blum fittings, which are durable and smooth, for the material, which makes this sofa quite a comfy and plushy seating option. With practicability in mind, the RAFT includes a modern bedside table that doesn’t shift the attention away from its design, perfect to lay down some late-night snacks during movie nights.

The RAFT’s size and layout can be completely customised by customers, allowing it to fit any space. The material and colour are also customisable, but DONNA Furniture provides expert recommendations to make sure the sofa maintains its intended design.
