In the hills of Hong Kong’s Mid-Levels, 8 Castle Road introduces a new kind of private clubhouse that trades flash for focus and a trend for timeless detail.
Winner of the LIV Hospitality Design Award for Private Club Interior, the space is part of a residential development by Henderson Land Development and New World Development. It was designed not as an afterthought, but as a central part of how its residents live, unwind, and gather.
Citterio-Viel & Partners led the interiors, with Jean-Louis Deniot’s Signature Restaurant and BTR Limited’s overall execution. What they’ve created is more than beautiful, it’s balanced.
The Peacock Stairs rise like a sculptural gesture through the space, while the Boat Bar adds a quiet, confident centrepiece. These aren’t just visual flourishes, as they define the mood of the clubhouse. Elegant, but not stiff. Designed, but not overdone.
The list of spaces reads like a modern wishlist: 4D theatre, yoga and fitness rooms, a private pool, a cigar lounge, and multifunction rooms designed to flex with residents’ needs. The Signature Restaurant leans into layered textures and rich finishes, offering an intimate and indulgent dining experience.
What stands out most is the restraint. There’s no need to overstate luxury here. It’s present in the craftsmanship, the proportions, and the way light moves through the rooms.
8 Castle Road isn’t offering lifestyle as a concept but as a lived-in, daily reality. For residents, it’s a home with depth. For design lovers, it proves that private amenities can be exclusive and deeply personal.
