Nestled in the heart of SoHo, Sartiano’s at The Mercer Hotel transcends the typical restaurant experience. Here, modern Italian cuisine by James Beard Award winner Alfred Portale meets the visionary hospitality of Scott Sartiano, all wrapped in a space curated by Studio Sofield.
The design takes cues from Tuscan villas and iconic Italian landmarks, particularly the breathtaking Borghese Villa in Rome. Step into the main dining room and you’re greeted by an open kitchen, a vibrant display of pink Himalayan salt-cured meats, and plush banquettes perfect for intimate gatherings. A central communal table for ten fosters a sense of connection, all while orbiting a magnificent 20-foot bar clad in cool Italian Carrara marble.
But it’s the lighting design by Focus Lighting that truly brings the space to life. Zaniboni Lighting’s Luna 1s fixtures are strategically placed throughout the space, bathing it in a warm and inviting glow. This interplay of light and form creates a sense of elegance that is both sophisticated and inviting. The designers have used light to create pockets of intimacy, to showcase the culinary creations, and to draw the eye towards the central communal table, fostering a sense of connection without sacrificing a touch of drama.
Sartiano’s caters to all preferences. The casual off-lobby cafe offers a relaxed atmosphere for enjoying quick bites, while the downstairs dining room provides a more formal, yet undeniably comfortable, setting for a memorable culinary experience. And for those seeking ultimate privacy, the hotel lobby and room service offer a haven of tranquillity.
Here, every detail, from the open kitchen to the communal table, is crafted to create a space that is both beautiful and functional. Soho’s newest gem offers a taste of Italy, a touch of modern luxury, and a design experience that lingers long after the final course.
