IKEA’s KONSTRUNDA Collection Democratises Access to Art

In an attempt to bring art closer to a wider audience, Swedish furniture manufacturer IKEA released KONSTRUNDA, an eclectic collection of artworks that add character to any space. Made by seven artists, designers, and creatives, the collection consists of 22 unique art objects.

Eclectic collection of artworks

Aptly named KONSTRUNDA, which roughly translates to Art Tour, the collection presents ceramics, textiles, furniture, and glass objects showcasing a unique take on art by creatives from different backgrounds and generations. The diversity of pieces represents the unique individuality of its creators while at the same time opening a conversation about art’s role in everyday life.

“Art should be available for all to enjoy, not a luxury reserved for galleries. Art evokes emotion, sparks conversation and helps transform a house into a home. With KONSTRUNDA, we wanted to create a collection that encourages people to express themselves and surround themselves with objects they love.”

Karin Gustavsson, Creative Leader for KONSTRUNDA

Andu Masebo, Lisa Reiser and Lisa Hilland

A statement piece by designer Andu Masebo includes a glass table supported by wielded chrome frame, accompanied by two wooden blocks residing on the intersection of side tables, stools and art objects. Lisa Reiser, a designer prolific in glass, ceramics, and metal, presented mouth-blown glass pieces reminiscent of gummy candy, and a lacquered black vessel whose curves shine in the interplay of light and shadow. Swedish designer Lisa Hilland created a stool from pine wood, a material deeply symbolic of IKEA as a brand. Another of Hilland’s pieces, a ceramic orange sculpture, arches boldly to make negative space a crucial part of the design.

Emanuele Stamuli, Ingrid Leander and Igor Holtermann

Emanuele Stamuli‘s black and white artworks with geometric patterns include a statement rug and complementary vases. The youngest designers from the group, Ingrid Leander and Igor Holtermann, collaborated on patterned pillows and floor cushions inspired by their window view. Apart from textiles inspired by the urban cityscape, the duo showcased a floor-length mirror, with vivid palm tree illustrations that bring a moment of calmness.

IKEA’s in-house designer Akanksha Deo

The collection also includes works by IKEA’s in-house designer Akanksha Deo. The designer, known for her vibrant, humorous works, has created a series of objects based on imperfections and devoid of function. Deo’s stainless-steel bowl is shaped as if it has been gently punched inward. Stacked geometric blocks inspired by Indian toys take on the shape of a guardian, complemented with a mirrored cube reflecting the viewer to imply that we are ultimately our own guardians. The designer’s shaggy wall-mounted bright blue textile artwork provides an injection of joy and energy into space.

KONSTRUNDA collection by IKEA provides art enthusasts with an oportunity to aquire affordable but distinctive designs that will transform their homes, but it also provides designers with a freedom to create works without functional restrictions. KONSTRUNDA will be available from September 1, 2026, globally both online and in the company’s retail stores.
