Samsung has recently shared the Galaxy S25 Edge, a new model in the Galaxy S lineup that boasts a slim profile with a full range of advanced hardware and software features. With a thickness of only 5.8 mm and a total weight of 163 grams, the S25 Edge is designed to be compact without compromising performance, durability, or camera quality.
Everything you need to know
Lightweight but durable
The device’s titanium frame, gently curved on the edges, was chosen for its strength and lightweight form. The front display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, a material designed to provide both visual clarity and enhanced resistance to shocks. This combination of materials contributes to the phone’s impressive durability and compact, slim look.
High-resolution and slim body
The camera system updates Samsung’s previous work in high-resolution mobile imaging, as its rear setup includes a 200-megapixel wide lens that maintains detail even in low-light environments. A 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens with autofocus supports close-up and macro photography, offering more flexibility for different shooting conditions. The camera also has Samsung’s ProVisual Engine, which automatically enhances skin tones, fabric textures, and plant details.
On-device AI tools
On the software side, the S25 Edge was given several AI-powered tools that were previously introduced in recent Galaxy models. These tools include features like Audio Eraser for removing unwanted background noise from video recordings and Drawing Assist, which offers generative suggestions for sketches and edits. All editing and image processing functions run directly on the device, using Samsung’s mobile AI systems to avoid relying on cloud-based computation.
Performance in a compact design
The phone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform, the same processor used across the S25 series. This chip has been customised to handle on-device AI tasks more efficiently, supporting both performance and privacy, with heat being managed through a redesigned vapour chamber.
Visual processing and enhancement
Visual performance is supported by Samsung’s mobile Digital Natural Image engine (mDNIe) and an upgraded ProScaler, which improves the quality of upscaled visuals displayed on screen. The goal was to maintain image clarity without increasing hardware size or power consumption.
Integrated AI for daily life
The Galaxy S25 Edge also incorporates AI in its user interface, particularly in the form of assistants and agents that provide context-aware suggestions throughout the day. These systems are embedded within apps like Now Brief and Now Bar, which can link to third-party tools to offer reminders or shortcuts during activities such as commuting or dining. The phone also supports Google’s Gemini Live, allowing users to show content to the AI through the camera or screen sharing and receive responses in real time.
Data security
Data privacy is handled locally through on-device processing, backed by Samsung Knox Vault, ensuring that personal information remains on the device.
