Ah, Valentine’s Day—the annual festival of grand gestures and well-meaning clichés. If you find yourself in London on this fateful evening, why not trade roses and routine for something with a little more edge? For those who love design, KINKY Bar offers the perfect escape, a space charged with something beyond candlelight—a raw, electric allure. A LIV Hospitality Design Awards winner in the Interior Design Cocktail Bar category, this bar is an immersion into form, material, and light.

At KINKY Bar, guests enter a completely different world in the same space as the Kinkally restaurant. The atmosphere here contrasts sharply with the restaurant’s warmth and earthy tones: the colors are darker, the shapes sharper, and the lighting bright and bold. Surfaces distort and reshape the space, creating a deliberate visual trick that makes the room feel both infinite and intimate.

The entire interior of the bar resembles a futuristic metal capsule with a single object in the middle – an open bar with seating around it. Suspended above, a floating slab of steel stone defies gravity, mirroring the restaurant’s rugged ceilings but stripping away warmth in favor of cool, calculated drama. With a combination of brushed reflective stainless steel, bright lighting, and contrast with the ultramarine VIP zone, the boundaries of space in KINKY seem to blur.

The striking design of KINKY Bar is the work of DA BUREAU, an architecture and design firm known for creating immersive environments. Maria Romanova and Alexander Pankov led the project, with contributions from designers Anna Lvovskaya, Boris Lvovskiy, and Fedor Goreglyad.
If you find yourself in London this Valentine’s Day and want to ditch the predictable sweetness, KINKY Bar is your antidote. Whether you’re sipping something bold in the ultramarine enclave or watching your reflection morph across the steel walls, one thing’s clear: this is a love story between you and design.
