The Egad and Tikal step lights are two compact fixtures built around the same idea: to keep the light visible, but not the fitting. Developed by Platek’s internal R&D team, the lights differ in form and placement, but both are designed to blend into the architecture while providing well-controlled, glare-free lighting.
About Egad
Egad is made for stairs, installed just beneath the step nosing, where it stays mostly out of view. It casts a clean line of light across the tread, shaped to avoid glare and limit its spill, so the steps are clearly defined without drawing attention to the fixture.
About Tikal
Tikal follows a similar approach but is slightly more adaptable, as it was designed for use on walls, railings, or along pathways. Although only 70 mm high and 35 mm wide, it emits a soft, angled beam that spreads light gently across walking areas. It works well in residential or hospitality settings, where lighting should be noticeable but not distracting.
The designs
Both lights are constructed from aluminum and finished with a coating system designed to withstand outdoor conditions, including exposure to salt and humidity. The leathered glass surfaces are sealed using a plasma treatment to ensure durability, and the colour options range from neutral tones, such as black, white, and bronze, to more expressive shades, including forest green or ballet rose.
