DI NULLA Bistro is conceived as an everyday destination where guests can stop by for breakfast, enjoy a quick lunch with friends, or settle in for an elegant family dinner. Roughly translated as “no problem,” DI NULLA Bistro conveys the light, playful character of the phrase which inspired its interior design. Free from formalities and dress codes, the bistro is a calming, casual space where guests can relax and enjoy the experience.

Inspired by the streets of Milan
The design of DI NULLA was additionally inspired by the fast-paced life on the streets of Milan, Italy. The design embodies the city’s natural rhythm characterised by controlled chaos. The irregular shapes, varied textures and shifted axes come together to create an energetic ambience. Full of movement, the architectural composition mimics street life that naturally moves in the rhythm of its own vibrations.

Dining room
The central seating area mirrors the spirit of the city streets. Rejecting rigid symmetry, the design draws on the imagery of lampposts and trees to recreate the atmosphere of a neighbourhood street, where people gather organically and everyday encounters unfold. The mix of façade elements with the kitchen mezzanine in one place and the bar canopy in another enhances this causality. The variety of shapes and materials all come together to create a distinctly Milanese streetscape – where people bring their own furniture to sit in the shade.

Private spaces, bar, and an open kitchen
Next to the dining room, there are two private spaces located a bit lower than the central space. The bar and open kitchen are recessed to provide views of food preparation, while at the same time visually separating the cooking area from the remainder of the venue. The open space concept allows for a playful, but not overbearing concept. Contrary to the dynamics of the main dining hall, the small dining room offers just a few tables where intimate gatherings can be held in a quieter, more sheltered atmosphere.

The interior of DI NULLA reflects the philosophy of freedom. Rejecting convention and formality, the design adopts a dynamic, light, and spontaneous architectural language. Every element is conceived to enhance comfort, creating an inviting atmosphere where guests are encouraged to slow down and enjoy the experience.

Eclectic furniture and mosaics
To reinforce the feeling of a vibrant street scene, DA BUREAU has gathered furniture from various private homes. The deliberately eclectic furniture selection is further enriched with custom mosaics on the floor, which evoke a feeling of a light and informal picnic.

Although located in the capital of Russia, the interior design of DI NULLA bistro transports visitors to the streets of Milan. The nonchalance of Northern Italy is conveyed through asymmetrical forms, varied textures and Italian-style mosaics on the floor. The design of DI NULLA Bistro has taken first place in the Interior Design Restaurant – Casual category at the 2025 LIV Hospitality Design Awards.
