Seven new pieces

There are seven new fixtures in the range, all wrapped in PET felt to better absorb sound. These include:

  • The LS1 Curve STFU and LS2 Curve STFU, two curved linear profiles with slim apertures;
  • The Ring STFU, a complete circular pendant;
  • The Loop STFU, which introduces both uplight and downlight through an open ring;
  • The PRD STFU, a disc-shaped fixture with a gently concave lens;
  • The Lucie Curve STFU, a softly backlit pendant using projection fabric;
  • The NL Round STFU, which drops the lighting altogether in favour of a purely acoustic volume.

The vision behind Contours

The name STFU has been part of Coronet’s line-up for seven years now, and the new Contours keep to the same balance of functional performance with a lighter visual tone. The curved shapes are designed to move across ceilings in arcs or loops, bringing colour and variation to open interiors. All models are available in 20 standard PET felt colours, with custom finishes available for larger projects.

Precision and technicalities

To form the curves, the PET felt is cut with a series of shallow grooves, allowing it to bend without creasing as it wraps around the fixtures. Designers can adjust the height of the acoustic layer to better suit a room’s needs, whether for visual alignment or noise control. With a typical lead time of two to three weeks, the range is intended to suit commercial spaces where design deadlines are often tight and the need for combined functions (acoustic, lighting, and visual impact) is becoming more common.

Sustainability

The PET felt used in the fixtures is made from 90% post-consumer recycled material and carries a Declare label, with a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of 0.75. Some models, such as the LS1 and LS2 Curve, are already covered by Coronet’s Red List Free declaration, with others in the process of being added.

The illuminated models utilize efficient LEDs with up to 135 lumens per watt and a color rendering index of over 90. While the shapes vary, the focus stays on providing flexible fixtures that combine lighting and acoustic control.
