The Alba headboard has recently been one of the accolades of the SIT Awards, which celebrates the best in furniture design every year, and for a good reason. The talented team responsible for the design is comprised of
Raquel Hernández, Sofía García, Patricia Zapico
, and Daniel García Sánchez, all from the Spanish design studio Woodendot.

The winning design is a modular headboard system made of two central panels overlapping each other, allowing it to be adjusted to fit various bed styles and customers’ tastes. Each panel is constructed from sustainable, FSC-certified wood, and customers can opt for a natural wood or textile finish. This headboard fits perfectly into a trend we’ve been covering relentlessly: personalization and sustainability, making this an object meant to last for generations.

The designers added a small shelf at the back of the headboard, where customers can place their phones, personal items, or books during the night. Additionally, the headboard includes an option to incorporate a dimmable backlight along the rear edge, providing warm ambient lighting without overbearing the space.

The Alba headboard is crafted by local artisans who aim to create long-lasting pieces in Iscar, Spain. The designers’ approach follows the “Design with Intention” framework, prioritizing functional, practical design principles and sustainable, locally focused manufacturing processes. Each headboard is intended to function as a versatile element of bedroom furnishings, making it compatible with various interior styles and adaptable to other configurations—the customer decides how their most intimate space looks and feels.
