Sport brand adidas unveiled a collection inspired by the legendary Jamaican musician Bob Marley. The eight pieces of apparel were made for football players and fans alike. The sport brand collaborated with the Bob Marley Foundation to obtain photographs, consultations, and clothing that would honour Marley’s life, music, and heritage.
The colours of Jamaica and powerful messages
Distinctive motifs, such as repetitive wave patterns incorporated across the design, are featured throughout. The famous lilac firebird track pants, which the celebrated musician wore during his European tour has been reimagined. The mantra Football Is Freedom, developed in collaboration with the Bob Marley Foundation, appears throughout the collection alongside the artist’s first name written in calligraphy. The word Bob, rendered in a calligraphic style, sits opposite adidas Originals’ signature trefoil.
From jerseys to accessories
The eight-piece collection includes the Football Freedom Jersey, featuring a yellow colour palette inspired by the National flag of Jamaica. The flowing wave motif combined with MARLEY letters graces the base of the jersey, while Football is Freedom graphics in yellow and emerald green embellish the front of the clothing.
Full-Zip Track Jacket and Trackpants are a standout piece in the adidas x Bob Marley collection. Blending classic athletic style with fashion, the jacket comes in emerald green featuring Football is Freedom graphics on the back panel. The stylish jersey is paired with purple track pants. Dress and short-sleeve T-shirt, featuring a green, gold, and red colour palette, are partnered with wave-patterned red shorts to complete the outfit. Accessories include two versions of crew socks and a bowler bag in two colours: white and brown.
The Bob Marley Foundation
The foundation carrying the name of Bob Marley has been extensively involved in the creation of the collection. The Kingston-based foundation serves vulnerable communities in Jamaica through awarding scholarships to underprivileged children, and has been heavily helping those impacted by Hurricane Melissa. Adidas also contributed to this goal, supporting the recovery through water and clothing donations during the crisis, donations whose effects are still noticeable today.

A global leader in sports apparel, the German-based company has a long history of creating football kits.
