Header: Isan Creative Festival 2026
The sixth edition of Isan Creative Festival 2026 (ISANCF2026) will be held between July 11 – 19, 2026, in Khon Kaen. The main activities will span four venues: TCDC Khon Kaen, Central Khon Kaen Campus, Sri Chan Creative District, and Khon Kaen International Convention and Exhibition Centre (KICE), with additional activities taking place at locations across the Isan region.
Dern: Northeast Modern
The upcoming edition of the fair will be held under the motto NORTHEAST MODERN: Abundance | Adaptation | Connectivity, presenting not just the culture of Isan but also the business and human potential of the region. The topic highlights the spirit of Dern, a modern expression of Isan, rooted in the region’s identity and values. The word mirrors the attitude of the Northeastern Thailand region that recognises potential while understating its traditions.
Core themes of the festival: Abundance, Adaptation and Connectivity
The rich cultural and human capital, combined with technology and design, becomes a powerful asset to drive the competitiveness of the region. The festival aims to open new opportunities through three concepts:
- Abundance: refers to the richness of Isan culture, music, cuisine, art, natural resources and local assets. Abundance can be used for creative development that would present the region to the world
- Adaptation: the ability to adapt reflects the region’s evolution that keeps pace with the evolving world.
- Connectivity: finally, the idea of connectivity brings people together. The joyful spirit of Isan, named Muan, opens up opportunities for collaboration and business partnerships supporting sustainable regional development.
Isan Creative Festival 2026 (ISANCF2026) program highlights
The festival will feature over 200 programs in seven formats. Academic Programs, a Creative Business Platform, Showcases & Exhibitions, Talks & Workshops, Event & Entertainment Programs, the D-KAK Market, and a Creative District Project. Program highlights include:
- Isan Music talent – supports the local music scene.
- Isan Story Gaming – allows visitors to discover Isan through the content and gaming industries.
- Isan Studio Showcase – connects creatives and businesses
- Isan Studio Program Partners – provides networking opportunities
- and Five Isan pavilions – which represent all 20 northeast Thailand provinces.
Opportunity – Hope – Future
The festival aims to represent Isan in a new dimension while attracting investors, industry professionals and visitors. Centred on Opportunity – Hope – Future, the Isan Creative Festival creates new opportunities for the locals, inspiring them to return to the area to build careers, open new jobs and expand businesses. The festival proves that investing in creativity opens the door for a new economy that can develop locally. For the past five years, the festival has supported Isan’s transition into three areas:
Location Strategy – transforms Isan into a hub for innovation, technology education and healthcare through strong infrastructure connectivity and trade potential.
Creative Hub – turns Isan into a new creative engine for the Greater Mekong Subregion by reinforcing creative industries such as music, design, crafts, film, food and content creation.
Human Capital – drives long-term creative economic growth by supporting the next generation of local talents.
Isan Creative Festival 2026 (ISANCF2026) is organised by the Creative Economy Agency (CEA) in collaboration with networks across all 20 provinces of Northeastern Thailand. Over the past five years, ISANCF2026 has celebrated culture, supported businesses, built connections and created new opportunities for the people of Isan.
