Maserati brought its latest creation home, giving the new MCPURA its national premiere at the 2025 Turin Auto Show. After an initial reveal at Goodwood, the Italian public now gets a close-up look at the brand’s new icon. Displayed prominently in Turin’s Piazza Reale, the car appeared in both its forms: a fixed-roof coupé and a convertible named the Cielo. This event, set in the capital of Italy’s automotive history, served as a perfect backdrop for a car that is purely Italian in its creation and spirit.

Two cars, two finishes

For its Italian debut, Maserati presented the two versions of the MCPURA with a special paint called Ai Acqua Rainbow. The color is an azure shade that reacts to sunlight, showing a rainbow effect across the car’s surfaces. This visual effect comes from rare pigments developed specifically for this application. To show the car’s dual personality, the finish was applied differently to each model. The MCPURA coupé wore a matte version of the paint, giving it a soft, technical appearance. In contrast, the MCPURA Cielo was covered in a glossy coat, which made its lines pop under the show lights. This choice highlighted the distinct character of the open-top car versus the closed-roof one.

A shape defined by engineering

The MCPURA is a direct evolution of the company’s MC20, carrying forward its core ideas but pushing them to a new level. The car’s foundation is a carbon fiber monocoque, a single, lightweight shell that forms the passenger compartment. This structure provides immense rigidity while helping to keep the car’s total weight below 1,500 kilograms. A defining feature of the car’s profile is its “Butterfly” doors. Instead of swinging outward, they open up and away from the body, creating a dramatic visual and making it easier to get in and out. On the Cielo model, the roof is a large pane of glass that can retract electrically. This roof also has electrochromic technology, allowing the driver to change its transparency from clear to opaque at the touch of a button.

Italian power and craft

Under the rear engine cover sits the 630-horsepower Nettuno V6 engine. The power from this motor, combined with the car’s low weight, gives it an excellent power-to-weight ratio of 2.33 kilograms per horsepower. This capability is a direct result of the car’s engineering-focused design. Every part of the MCPURA, from its construction and engine building to its painting and final personalization, happens at Maserati’s historic factory on Viale Ciro Menotti in Modena. The special Ai Acqua Rainbow color and other unique features are available through the Maserati Fuoriserie program, which allows customers to commission cars with specific, custom-made details, resulting in a vehicle built to their personal specifications.
