Lim + Lu's An Artist's Teahouse is a calm, beautifully layered hideaway where creativity and tradition sip tea together. Set in a sleepy little village in Foshan, the 200-square-meter space feels like the artist's own quiet rebellion against noise, equal parts thoughtful design and personal sanctuary.

Experience the Subtle Beauty of An Artist’s Teahouse

Lim + Lu’s An Artist’s Teahouse is a calm, beautifully layered hideaway where creativity and tradition sip tea together. Set in a sleepy little village in Foshan, the 200-square-meter space feels like the artist’s own quiet rebellion against noise, equal parts thoughtful design and personal sanctuary.

The artist commissioned the teahouse as an extension of her studio next door, a space to welcome guests and serve tea. The layout is a clever sequence of raised platforms at varying heights, each with its small pocket of seating, guiding you through the space one thoughtful step at a time. You wander along white gravel paths edged with wood, step up onto platforms, pause to admire potted greenery that softens the geometry. Those subtle elevation changes keep the eyes curious and the body engaged, all while maintaining a relaxed mood.

It’s also part gallery, with curated artworks sprinkled throughout that echo the quiet energy of the room. Nothing screams for attention here; the details are gentle and purposeful, encouraging you to slow down, sip, and actually notice.

The structure itself is a masterclass in restraint. Warm wood slats, slender metal frames that catch the light just so, and wooden windows covered with delicate Chinese paper, a respectful nod to heritage without feeling nostalgic. Every corner feels intentional yet unforced.
