The F1 75 has recently been launched in an event at London’s O2 Arena, marking the start of the 2025 Formula 1 season, as Scuderia Ferrari HP unveils the new car’s livery. The event was attended by CEO Benedetto Vigna, Team Principal Fred Vasseur, drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, and representatives of the team’s partners.
The SF-25 is also set to make its track debut behind closed doors at Fiorano, covering up to 200 kilometres in its first shakedown before heading to Bahrain for the only pre-season test session, from 26 to 28 February.
Continuity and changes
The SF-25 follows the naming pattern of recent years, reflecting the stability of the regulations. It is Ferrari’s 71st Formula 1 car and the fourth of the second-generation ground effect cars introduced in 2022.
While it builds on previous designs, it incorporates new technical solutions: one of the most noticeable changes, led by Loic Serra’s team, is the switch from a pushrod to a pull-rod front suspension. This change aims to improve airflow around the car and allow for more aerodynamic development, an area where the previous design had reached its limits.
“The SF-25 is an evolution of the SF-24, which gave us a great starting point. We have changed 99% of the car, evolving its architecture to maximise performance. The pull rod front suspension is just one of many significant updates as we look for every possible gain in what will be an incredibly close season.”
Loic Serra, Technical Director, Chassis
The SF-25 is an evolution of last year’s car, designed to maximise development potential in what is expected to be a highly competitive season, where even small lap-time gains could be decisive.
Optimisation
With engine regulations frozen since 2022, the Power Unit remains unchanged in terms of hardware. However, efforts have been made to refine its operational strategies, tailoring performance to different race conditions. Reliability remains a key focus, and despite a further reduction in permitted test bench hours, off-season work has been dedicated to reviewing processes and applying lessons from 2024 to ensure consistency across all areas.
“The launch of this new car is a proud moment for the entire team. We had a solid foundation last season, fighting for the Constructors’ title until the final race, and now we’re determined to build on that. With our new driver lineup, we’re ready to take the extra step needed to compete at the highest level.”

Livery and design details
The livery has undergone significant changes, blending elements from Ferrari’s past and present. The 2025 Racing Red, now a darker matte shade, takes inspiration from the Scuderia’s early years, with a bold, angled white band serving as a defining feature, while thin glossy red and white stripes add subtle contrast. The bodywork’s matte finish contrasts with the gloss detailing seen on the 499 Hypercar, reinforcing a shared design style across Ferrari’s motorsport programs. Additionally, the wheel rims are now entirely red, and the numbers on Charles’ and Lewis’ cars are displayed in Ferrari’s official font, Ferrari Sans.
Shakedown and testing
Following the Fiorano shakedown, the SF-25 will be transported to Bahrain for the season’s only official pre-season test. Afterwards, the 2025 Formula 1 season will officially begin in Australia on the 16th of March.
