Lei Light Reflection is a lighting product that combines an aroma diffuser and a mirror. In other words, Lei is a sustainable aroma diffuser, powering electricity by the heat of a candle instead of a power source.
This innovative design utilizes reflected light inside the oval-shaped frame, creating a soft and beautiful light when viewed from any angle. Each feature’s form and function relate to each other to provide an artistic and emotional scene.
Lead designer, Yoshimi Kemmotsu, designed this project in a way that the light source surface thoroughly rotates around the handle, or the central axis, and illuminates things directly below, the desktop, or ceilings and walls as environmental lighting. With 3 color types and 4 levels of dimming, the product can fit a variety of situations.
The aluminium body has an elaborated anodized coating which is a testament to superior craftsmanship. The design aesthetic is reminiscent of traditional Japanese lighting or the shape of ancient “andon” lanterns. This could also be described as an embodiment of the sensibility towards Japan’s delicately transitioning season and the time within it.
Although the protagonist of this product is the light function, the aroma diffuser is also a noteworthy point which uses an international patent pending technology. By setting a few drops of aroma oil upon the aluminum plate matrix, it will spread over the entire plate surface through capillary action and efficiently diffuse the scent to the air, assisted by a heating operation.
Lei’s minimalist design made from recyclable materials, cordless mobility, and low-maintenance usability guarantees great functionality along with emotional appeal that is indispensable to any calm solitary time or social situation.
Lei has won the SIT Furniture Design Award in the Lamp Category.
