Mercedes-Maybach has revealed the most significant update to the S-Class in the history of the nameplate. This latest version moves beyond simple transport, focusing instead on creating a quiet, private space filled with high-end craft and clever technology. With the launch marking 140 years of the motor car, this new model is a clear nod to a long history of building icons while looking straight at the future of high-end travel.

More authoritative presence on the road
The first thing you notice is the redesigned front. The classic Maybach grille is now 20 percent larger, giving the car a more powerful look without being loud. For the first time, the grille frame and the Maybach name are lit up. In certain places, even the three-pointed star on the bonnet and the emblem on the rear pillar glow softly.
Small details make a big impact here. The headlamps feature tiny touches of rose gold, and the air intakes are finished in bright chrome. A particularly clever piece of engineering can be found in the wheels. The silver forged wheels now feature a “floating” centre star. Thanks to a special ball-bearing system, the Mercedes-Benz logo stays upright and level even when the car is moving.

Cabin built for quiet reflection
Inside, the car feels more like a private lounge than a vehicle. The dash is dominated by the MBUX Superscreen, a massive piece of glass that covers several displays. However, it isn’t just about screens. Maybach has used natural materials, such as open-pore oak and amber-brown wood, in a herringbone pattern to keep the space feeling warm.
For those who prefer to avoid animal products, a new leather-free interior is available. It uses a high-quality grey fabric called “Mirville,” which is a mix of linen and recycled polyester. This is paired with white piping and diamond-pattern stitching, proving that sustainable materials can look and feel just as posh as traditional hides.

The luxury of personal space
The rear of the S-Class is where the Maybach truly shines. The optional automatic comfort doors open and close at the push of a button, making every arrival feel like a bit of an event. Once inside, passengers can enjoy silver-plated champagne flutes by Robbe & Berking, which sit in specially shaped holders in the centre console. A ten-litre fridge is tucked behind the armrest to keep drinks cold, though you can take it out if you need more boot space.
The lighting also plays a huge role in the mood. There are 199 LEDs throughout the cabin that can change into 64 different colours. You can even choose special Maybach themes like “Amethyst Glow” or “Rose Gold White.”

Power that doesn’t disturb the peace
Under the bonnet, the engines have been updated to be both stronger and smoother. The S 680 features an eight-cylinder engine that now matches the power of the old V12, while the V12 itself remains an option in some countries for those who want the ultimate in smooth delivery. There is also a plug-in hybrid version, the S 580 e, which allows for about 100 kilometres of driving on electric power alone—perfect for gliding through city centres in total silence.
To ensure the ride stays flat and calm, the car uses a new air suspension system. This system “talks” to other cars on the road via the cloud. If a car ahead hits a bump, your Maybach knows about it in advance and adjusts its damping to soak up the impact before you even reach it.

Making it your own with MANUFAKTUR
Almost every Maybach is unique, thanks to the MANUFAKTUR programme. Owners can choose from over 150 paint colours and 400 interior shades. New options include a “verde silver” with a satin finish and a black paint that has tiny glass flakes in the top coat to make it sparkle like a night sky.
If the standard list isn’t enough, the “Made to Measure” service allows for almost anything. Customers can sit down with a consultant to pick historic paint colours or specific stitching styles, using a digital visualiser to see their car come to life on screen before it is built at the famous Sindelfingen plant.

The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is a reminder that true luxury isn’t about being the loudest in the room. Instead, it focuses on the quality of the materials, the cleverness of the hidden technology, and the ability to tailor every single inch of the car to the owner’s taste.
