The Biscuit armchair, designed by WOWIN.UA with Julia Kononenko as lead designer, was developed as part of a collection that explores softness and volume through rounded forms and understated, playful details. The shape is defined by curved edges and a continuous line that connects the seat, back, and arms into a single volume, recalling the outline of sweet pastries with its gentle contours and padded structure. For this approach to form and material, the Biscuit armchair was named the winner in the Armchair category at the SIT Furniture Design Awards.
A playful design
From the side, the chair has a compact, low silhouette, but this is subtly lifted by using ball-shaped legs that sit just beneath the frame, often hidden from view depending on the angle. This small detail creates an impression of lightness without changing the scale of the chair, having been designed as an intentional contrast to the soft body above.
The surface of the chair is fully upholstered in a fabric selected for its softness and matte finish, which together allow the armchair to appear the embodiment of calmness, while the generous cushions suggest the softness of a cloud or a folded blanket, designed to hold their shape without appearing rigid. The stitching follows the chair’s natural lines, minimising seams and allowing the shape to express itself naturally. The cushions are not removable, and their exaggerated depth gives the seat a feeling of being padded throughout, with no hard edge or corner left uncovered.
