SUNROOOF lighting system aims to bring the experience of sunlight into interiors. The lighting system mimics the experience of natural sunlight indoors through advanced optics, AI integration and thoughtful design. Specifically designed for interiors with limited sunlight, SUNROOOF brings together technology, architecture and wellbeing to achieve a natural feel.
Transforming ceilings into sky-like environments
SUNROOOF was founded by Ishat Jain, starting from a simple question: “If we spend 90% of our lives indoors, why isn’t anyone solving for sunlight?” It took four years of research and more than 100 prototypes to answer this question. Drawing on this idea, the SUNROOOF company, a subsidiary of the MAGPPIE Group, has pioneered the world’s first lighting system that transforms ceilings into a sky. SUNROOOF’s advanced optics and design provide the feeling of being outdoors.
Design Democracy Festival
SUNROOOF debuted at Design Democracy in Hyderabad. A prominent design festival held between September 18 and 20, 2026, in India brings together architects, designers, brands, and design enthusiasts through an exciting program of installations, exhibits, and creative expressions. SUNROOOF ceiling system was presented at the Atelier Pavilion, alongside the SUN Window, a new addition to the brand’s portfolio.
SUNROOOF as an associate partner of Design Democracy
Apart from debuting its products, SUNROOOF also organised a panel discussion titled “Designing for Well-Being: How Health, Light and Lifestyle Are Shaping the Future of Homes“. Held on September 19, 2026, the discussion explored how health, light and lifestyle are shaping the interior design of today. Participants included Faisal Vohra (Founder of the architectural studio F+S), designer Arpita Sharma, Rajat Sanghvi (Co-founder of MakeSpace Architects), Meghana Nimmagadda (Founder and CEO of Designtales interior design studio) and Navneet Sandhu, moderator.
New Experience Centre at Jubilee Hills
Following the company’s participation in Design Democracy, SUNROOOF opened its new Experience Centre in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills. SUNROOOF will exhibit MAGPPIE’s kitchen and wardrobe systems alongside SUNROOOF ceilings, allowing visitors to the Hyderabad store to experience their trademark integration of design, interiors and sunlight.
From residencies to hospitality and commercial spaces, SUNROOOF’s adaptable lighting solutions reflect a growing interest in environments that enhance mood, support focus and promote everyday well-being. With an expanding presence across India and growing international interest, the brand represents an emerging force in experiential spatial design.
With its first showcase in Hyderabad and the new Experience Centre, SUNROOOF revolves around a strong physical presence in the city. Hyderabad’s community will have the opportunity to experience a space where a sunlight-led approach and wellbeing-focused interiors come together to bring that light and sunny outdoor feel into spaces where people spend much of their days.
