Nairobi Design Week (NDW) marks a major milestone in 2025 as it celebrates its 10th anniversary as a major design fair in Africa. This year’s festival is set to run from March 8th to the 16th and will revolve around the theme “We Are the Ancestors.” This thought-provoking theme invites designers and audiences to reflect on their roles in shaping a sustainable world for future generations. It serves as a call to action to consider how today’s work can maintain its relevance over time.
Since its creation in 2015, NDW has evolved into a dynamic platform where design gets mixed with culture, art, and technology, empowering local and global communities by showcasing how design can drive change. For its 10th edition, the festival wants to provide even greater collaboration, exploration, and dialogue opportunities.
Open Calls are live, inviting individuals, studios, and organizations to contribute their work and ideas to this global conversation. To those looking to participate, NDW offers a detailed prospectus that outlines all of the opportunities for involvement, including avenues to exhibit, collaborate, and partner.
The theme “We Are the Ancestors” encourages participants to think about how their work can inspire future generations, and to achieve this, NDW will be home to a wide array of activities, exhibitions, and workshops. Thousands of attendees are expected to engage with designers and partners, strengthening networks and exploring the latest in design innovation.
