The Brontë Breakfast Collection is a set of small kitchen products designed to be used every day, having been recently chosen as the European Product Design Award winner in the “HOME (Household Products) / Kitchen: Coffee and Tea Makers (Professional)” category.
The award-winning collection was designed by Spectrum Brands for Russell Hobbs, with Luke Bradshaw as lead designer and Jacque Koyen and Kate Roethler on his team. This line-up was carefully chosen to cover the main breakfast jobs, making mornings easier while also bringing class to the kitchen.
A family of statement pieces
The range includes four products: a kettle, a 2-slice toaster, a 4-slice toaster, and a filter coffee maker. Each appliance was designed to match, with the designers having chosen a simple creamy white colour with a matte finish and a textured surface surrounded by metallic accents. The objective of the design is to create “statement pieces that reflect their personality without compromising performance or results,” per the studio, who couldn’t have put it better.
Details that matter
Functionality was a must for both the client and the design team. An element that shows this best is, perhaps, the “perfect pour spout“: its careful design ensures that every morning can be enjoyed without becoming too messy, whether one is in a rush or taking it slowly.
In the end, Russell Hobbs wanted to ensure this collection would respect the kitchen, which is considered “the heart of the home“. An appliance isn’t supposed to be changed every few years, so any kettle or toaster needs to be designed with two things in mind: a clean, simple look and a high technical quality. Day by day, as people use their appliances to brew coffee or toast bread, the little subtleties of how to reach that perfect point become engraved in the routine. It is, therefore, a shock when one has to trade their trusty product for a new one. This collection brings an answer to this problem: remember how you love your breakfast, because you’ll enjoy it for years to come.
