The Kia EV3, a compact electric SUV, has recently received the “Best of the Best” distinction at the 2025 Red Dot Award: Product Design in the Automobiles and Vehicles category. This is not the first time Kia has had one of its models recognised by Red Dot, as previous editions of the prize have praised the brand’s EV models, with the EV9 awarded in 2024 and the EV6 in 2022. However, this isn’t the only prize the EV3 has received this year, as it has also been selected as the “2025 World Car of the Year.”

The Red Dot Award is an international design competition that recognises achievements across product design, communication, and design concepts. The “Best of the Best” title is awarded to a select group of entries identified by the jury as exceptional examples within their category. This year, Kia is scheduled to receive the award at the Red Dot Gala on July 8 at the Aalto Theatre in Essen, Germany.

According to Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design, the award reflects the work of Kia’s design team and global collaborators in developing the EV3. The vehicle’s design is shaped by Kia’s “Opposites United” approach, which focuses on bringing together contrasting elements. Architectural forms and folded surfaces define the exterior design, while the interior emphasises open space and functional comfort.

The EV3’s design features broad exterior volumes with a compact silhouette, combining vertical headlamps at the outer edges of the front fascia with a continuous line that connects the C-pillar and tailgate glass. Inside, the cabin is designed to seat five passengers, with a focus on usability through features such as a panoramic widescreen display and a central console that includes a sliding table and additional storage.
