Jordan Brand athlete Paolo Banchero introduces his Player Edition of the Heir Series basketball shoe, inspired by his journey from Seattle to the NBA and the influence of his mother and grandmother, who were central figures in shaping his game and approach to the sport. Drawing on insights from women’s basketball, this Player Edition is designed for anyone who steps onto the court, no matter their gender.
“Women athletes have always been a huge part of basketball for me: They’re the ones who taught me the game,” commented Paolo, adding: “My mom played in the WNBA and in college, and she instilled in me the discipline and dedication it takes to win. She and my grandmother have been my biggest inspirations, and without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. To have my first Jordan Brand Player Edition honour them is special—it’s a way to show my gratitude and remind myself of the foundation they built for me. Every time I step on the court wearing these, I’m carrying their legacy with me.”
The Heir Series basketball shoe, first released in October, prioritizes a low-to-the-ground design that enhances flexibility and responsiveness, essential when running and cutting movements. The exterior foam layer protects a drop-in Cushlon 3.0 midsole, providing a close-to-court feel; the rubber herringbone traction pattern enhances grip and control, and an adaptive cage offers flexibility and support.

In addition to honoring the role of his family in his success, the shoe also pays homage to the Rotary Boys & Girls Club in Seattle, where Paolo worked on his skills through the Seattle Rotary Select Basketball program. The Player Edition is dressed in light blue touches, a reference to his youth team’s colors that show the main goal of this collection: just as Parole was supported in his formative years, so these sneakers will provide support for the next generation of players.
