Fast, the Italian specialist in aluminium outdoor furniture, made a colorful splash at this year’s Milan Design Week. Under the theme “A Matter of Colors,” the brand showed how important color is to their design approach, presenting new pieces and additions to existing lines created with designers Lievore Asociados, Francesco Meda, and David Lopez Quincoces.
New collections bring fresh ideas outdoors
This year, Fast introduced innovative furniture that focuses on adaptability and user experience:
- Unduetre Sofa System: Designed by Fast’s creative directors, Francesco Meda and David Lopez Quincoces, this modular sofa changes the game for outdoor seating. Its key feature is a clever hidden mechanism within the cushions that allows the backrests and armrests to recline easily. This lets you change the sofa’s shape to suit different moments, from social gatherings to quiet relaxation. You can arrange it as a standard sofa or create a large, inviting seating island by adding or removing sections, making it a truly flexible system where technology enhances comfort.
- Naca Table Additions: Also by Meda and Quincoces, the Naca table collection, known for its balance between structure and appearance, grows with new round coffee tables. These come in various sizes and heights, adding visual interest while keeping the collection’s clean look. With lots of choices for tabletop shapes and materials, these tables can be personalized for many different outdoor spaces.
- Solaris Lounger Expansion: Working with longtime partners Lievore Asociados, Fast adds new sun loungers to the Solaris collection. A new double sun lounger, and another version with a frame and awning, offer more ways to relax outdoors, whether sharing the space or enjoying solo comfort. These additions expand the collection while maintaining its signature look and material quality.
Color takes center stage
“A Matter of Colors” isn’t just a theme; it’s central to Fast’s presentation. The brand uses color contrasts and material pairings to offer customization options, allowing for unique furniture pieces. This focus was clear at their Salone del Mobile booth. Deep red walls suggest the changing seasons and showcase Fast’s updated color palette. Natural fiber flooring and Mediterranean plants like olive trees strengthen the connection to the outdoors. Walls made of painted bamboo tubes, set at different distances, create a dynamic visual effect, encouraging visitors to explore. You can also experience Fast’s colorful vision at their Fast Milano flagship store (Via Cesare Battisti 1) and a special outdoor setup near the Bredaquaranta showroom (Via Fatebenefratelli 10).
Thirty years of aluminium expertise
Founded in 1995 and rooted in the metalworking tradition of Italy’s Brescia province, Fast celebrates 30 years of experience. They chose aluminium for its lightweight, durable, and infinitely recyclable qualities, making it perfect for outdoor furniture that needs to withstand weather while looking good. The company combines skilled handcraft with modern production techniques like die-casting, extrusion, and automated welding.
Working directly with local suppliers allows them to offer highly customizable furniture. Marco Levrangi, CEO of Fast, notes that Milan Design Week is a key moment to connect with industry professionals and demonstrate how their research mixes tradition with new ideas to rethink outdoor living spaces. He adds that their latest designs aim to meet the growing desire for spaces that easily connect indoor and outdoor areas.
