Discover How Shifts in Consumer Behaviour Affect Retail Space Design

Retail design might be one of the many fields in design that mixes disciplines such as marketing and psychology, as what it creates is intended to cause a very specific feeling in visitors: desire. Studio 1:1 Retail Design took this goal to heart when designing their latest project, New Concept Reserved 2023, an avant-garde retail space where modern customers’ expectations are also part of the experience. Openness and mobility create the atmosphere, all principles that perfectly align with the brand’s ethos.

Aesthetics and materials

The team of designers gave the space a gentle and calm vibe, sharing the brand’s products with customers amid an attractive and curated interior design. The team used mineral plaster, a thick, structured material, both inside and outside the store. This specific choice subliminally conveys the message that such as the material, the brand’s products are durable but also aesthetically consistent.

The layout of the store wasn’t chosen, of course, by chance. The openness that the team created encourages unrestricted flow and accessibility, making customers feel comfortable and, therefore, more willing to notice what’s around them. At the storefront, the team created an open display case inviting passersby to come in and enjoy themselves. Inside, the space is organised with illuminated plaster elements, both curved and straight, creating a fun and elegant visual dynamic.

The ceiling design integrates straight lines with soft curves, creating a balanced eye candy accentuated by strategic lighting. In the fitting rooms, the designers combined the need for good lighting fixtures with the potential of light as an art form. The result is soft light in each stall coming through illuminated glass panels, quite flattering without breaking from the store’s overall ambience.

At the sales area, the team added furniture and display units crafted from oak, some more round in shape and others rectangular, keeping up with the ceiling’s design. These pieces are also enhanced by soft lighting, which not only helps delineate the space but also pleasantly showcases the merchandise.

At the centre: the customer

The design of New Concept Reserved 2023 is a response to post-pandemic shifts in consumer behaviour, technological advancements, and increased ecological awareness. By integrating these aspects, Studio 1:1 Retail Design created a space that shows customers the brand’s commitment to meeting their needs.
