The Offcut Table is a modular furniture system that combines irregular marble slabs with a minimal steel support structure, designed by DA.CH. taller d’arquitectura i paisatge. The collection is based on a repeatable construction method that adapts to the unique qualities of each stone, plus a broader philosophy on the significance behind a point. The result is a series of tables, stools, and benches created from marble offcuts and steel point supports.
The design
Each piece begins with a slab of marble, often a remnant, each one different in size, veining, and edge condition. Steel legs are positioned as “points” that intersect with the stone, stabilising it without dominating its form. This approach allows for variation in scale and proportion while maintaining a consistent structure.
While the components are simple, a flat slab and modular steel supports, their configuration shifts with every new piece, producing a series of unique objects that can function independently or as part of a broader composition.
The concept
Marble is indeed the protagonist, with points, transformed into a base, intersecting with it only to reveal that something is happening. A table, a chair, a stool—anything we can imagine, created with just a piece of marble and a few points.
Just a piece of marble and a point. Always the same system, yet each time a different piece. Every slab of marble has its shape, colour, and geological history. Each point also carries its own story, its possibilities, and its purpose. Always the same, yet always different.
Each piece is unique. At the same time, they all belong to a whole. They form a family. Separated, each is a distinct object. Together, they become an archipelago—each piece adding to the others, all sharing the same essence, yet shining independently.
