Design Week Mexico 2025 celebrates its 17th edition, consolidating its place as one of the most significant events on Mexico City’s cultural and creative calendar.
Under the theme “Designed in Mexico”, this year’s edition is a call to action to empower the creative community and elevate national design as a driver of economic, social, and cultural transformation.
Organized by México Territorio Creativo, a non-governmental and non-profit organization, the event connects architects, designers, artists, and artisans from Mexico and around the world in a network that transcends borders. As part of its mission, and with the goal of amplifying collaboration and existing events throughout the month, we join forces with new organizations and welcome Climate Change Week and another edition of Obra Blanca, thus strengthening October’s creative and cultural agenda.
Argentina will be the Guest Country for this edition, as part of an institutional collaboration with the Government of the Argentine Republic and its Embassy in Mexico City. This alliance strengthens bilateral ties through design, art, and architecture, fostering a creative exchange that transcends borders. Argentina’s presence forms part of an exercise in cultural diplomacy, understood as a bridge for dialogue, collaboration, and the international projection of the creative communities of both nations. Additionally, collaborative ties with France, Colombia, and the United States will be maintained and reinforced, continuing the joint work that has enriched past editions and promoted cultural and professional exchange.
The residency program brings together creatives from around the globe and takes place in various states across Mexico, promoting cultural exchange and the decentralization of creative activity.
The event strengthens its connection with international organizations, expanding opportunities for collaboration and global visibility for participants; it also fosters collaboration with universities in Mexico City and worldwide, creating a space for learning and experimentation that connects students and academics with the professional design scene.
Design Week Mexico maintains an active relationship with the World Design Weeks organization, of which it is a founding member, reaffirming its role in the international network of design platforms.
The 2025 program explores the intersection of tradition and innovation through:
- Public installations that reimagine historical perspectives.
- Experimental projects and materials that open new frontiers in sustainable design.
- Intergenerational collaborations that amplify collective creativity.
- Adaptive reuse of architectural heritage as an example of preservation and innovation.
Over 17 editions, we have positioned October as Mexico’s month of design, transforming the city into an open creative laboratory for the community and the world—year after year reinforcing this recognition both nationally and internationally.
Mexico City stands as a meeting point for artistic, intellectual, and creative vanguards, increasingly integrating Latin America into the global design conversation.
Design Week Mexico serves as:
- A platform for cultural diplomacy.
A driver of innovation and healthy competition within the creative sector. - A reference for socially responsible design.
The spirit of this edition lies in the fact that “Designed in Mexico” is not merely a theme—it is a manifesto inviting us to transform environments, connect cultures, and project Mexican creativity onto the global stage.
GUEST COUNTRY: Argentina
Argentina, Guest Country of Design Week Mexico 2025
As part of the thematic axis “Designed in Mexico,” Design Week Mexico 2025 opens a dialogue with the south of the continent through the participation of Argentina as Guest Country. This collaboration celebrates the encounter between two cultures of strong character, where design serves as a bridge between heritage and innovation, critical thinking and material sensitivity.
Argentina’s participation offers a complementary perspective: an approach to design where the conceptual coexists with the functional, and where experimentation is deeply connected to identity. Its presence in Mexico draws both parallels and contrasts between traditions, methodologies, and visions of contemporary living, fostering a transcontinental conversation that enriches both creative scenes.
More than a collaboration, it is a co-creation that celebrates Latin American diversity through a forward-looking lens. The exchange between Argentina and Mexico becomes a platform for imagining shared futures through design, recognizing in difference an opportunity to innovate with purpose and meaning.
This collaboration with Argentina has been made possible thanks to the support of the Secretariat of Culture, the Directorate of Cultural Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, and the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in Mexico.
FOCUS: México
México at the center of Design Week México 2025
Unlike previous editions, where the invitation focused on a single state, this year Design Week Mexico broadens its perspective with Focus Mexico. Within the framework of the thematic axis “Designed in Mexico,” the initiative brings together craft workshops and designers from Yucatán, Oaxaca, State of Mexico, Mexico City, Jalisco, Chiapas, Guerrero, Chihuahua, Puebla, Aguascalientes and Michoacán—shaping a plural panorama of processes, materials, and creative visions.
In this edition, Visión y Tradición connects communities from Oaxaca and Yucatán with designers from Argentina, the 2025 guest country, generating pieces that bear witness to an intercultural and transgenerational exchange. At the same time, across the other participating states, collaborations and special pieces are being developed with designers, expanding the reach of this initiative and showcasing the richness of crafts, techniques, and design approaches throughout the country.
Focus Mexico celebrates and transforms national diversity into a platform for experimentation and international projection. By bringing together multiple territories in a single edition, Design Week Mexico opens a space to imagine shared futures through the strength of the local, recognizing in difference an opportunity to innovate and build collectively.

Visión y Tradición, Design Week Mexico’s residency program, brings together designers and artisans in a unique collaborative experience. For this edition, Argentina joins as Guest Country, alongside the special participation of several Mexican states — soon to be announced. This combination enables a rich cultural exchange between designers and artisans from both Mexico and Argentina.
The outcome of this collaboration will be showcased in the iconic crescent space of the National Museum of Anthropology, where traditional techniques and contemporary approaches converge. The pieces created reflect cultural richness, innovation, and the collective talent of all participants.
Since its inception, Design Week Mexico has aimed to promote Mexican design through dialogue with the creative and cultural industries of other countries. The participation of Argentina as Guest Country, working hand in hand with Mexican artisans, presents a unique opportunity to foster an exchange between cutting-edge design and craftsmanship — a cultural and artistic heritage of our country.
Studio visits, shared time, and collaborative work sessions shape each of the resulting pieces, which are the product of a deep mutual understanding among participants. Through a process grounded in respect and creative dialogue, design philosophies are merged to give rise to unique creations.
The realization of Visión y Tradición is made possible thanks to the invaluable support of the National Museum of Anthropology and the solidarity of Arte y Cultura del Centro Ricardo B. Salinas Pliego. The collaboration with Argentina was made possible through the support of the Secretariat of Culture, the Directorate of Cultural Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, and the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in Mexico.
