Brunch & Cake Diputació is a unique café designed by interior design firm Metrik & 2a1 Studio, with Raül Tonelli as lead designer, in Barcelona. The main goal of the team was to create a place that reflected the brand’s values: using locally sourced, eco-friendly, and low-carbon products. Everything in the café is made from recyclable or biodegradable materials, and the result is a little oasis where a cup of coffee can make you forget about the chaos of the surrounding city.
The team of designers, comprised of Andrés Suárez, Nuria Martínez, Rosario Ortuzar, and Mar Agustí, wanted to create a peaceful place where people could relax, eat healthy food, and enjoy a natural setting. They used natural wood for the furniture and rattan and textiles for the lamps. Fabrics like cotton, raffia, and jute further add to the natural vibe, all in a soothing cream tone.
The space features lots of plants, ceramic vases, and tables and counters made from natural stone, marble, granite, and terrazzo. The walls are treated and painted with organic lime, and decorated with niches here and there with a warm light emanating from within.
Every detail, from the layout to the materials, was chosen to enhance the customer experience. Natural light bathes the café, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The seating arrangements also encourage a sense of community, while the use of organic elements makes the environment feel refreshing and tranquil. The result is a project that respects the environment, providing guests with a calm, organic, and vibrant vibe.
