Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection is a hotel located in Gardiner, New York, that has a design unlike any other due to its inspiration from the surrounding area. The Auberge Resorts Collection, a 140-acre estate where the hotel is set, features 65 modern accommodations that take advantage of the best in the Hudson Valley and the neighbourhoods around it.

The design studio responsible for the interiors, Ward + Gray, decided to look outside for inspiration. Taking a close eye into the past and future of the surrounding area, both the urban and natural areas, the designers envisioned what is now known as the Wildflower Farms.

Lead designers Christie Ward and Staver Gray took the time to visit local artisans, antique shops, and the entire property to make sure that the interior design would be a true reflection of the area. Even the food offered to guests is inspired by the location, as the designers got familiar with the vegetables planted on the property—even colonising mushrooms!

The hotel’s architecture is based on Swiss and Dutch design, having been completely personalised to be featured on the site in a way that wouldn’t disturb the landscape. The farmhouse and barn maintained the touch of the area’s vernacular style, however, they were given a modern twist: they are asymmetrical, designed to frame the surrounding mountains.

The materials used both indoors and outdoors were specifically chosen to complement the architecture and the aura of the property. Many of the furniture pieces seen throughout the interior resemble antiques found all around antique shops in the area. In order to achieve this, the designers got more than 450 unique pieces specially designed for this project, a collection ranging from furniture pieces to lighting fixtures, rugs, and fabrics.
