Against the bustling backdrop of New York’s streets, the installation unfolded as a sensory journey, inviting visitors to explore four distinct vignettes: LIVE, LOVE, WORK, and PLAY.
Guided by a multigenerational collective of AAPI visionaries—including Dong-Ping Wong of Food Architects, acclaimed photographer Jiro Konami, composer Sugar Vendil, graphic design studio Social Species, and Species, and original verse by youth poets: Fatima Ahmad, Jessica Kim, Vanessa Niu and Serena Yang—INTERSECTIONS blurred the boundaries between fashion, art, and culture. Through Lim’s collaborative ethos, the installation became a living tapestry, embodying the city’s ever-evolving narrative and the limitless potential of creative synergy.
At the heart of the immersive experience lay Lim’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection, interwoven with each vignette to create a harmonious fusion of style and substance. Brooklyn-based duo Indie Studios lent their artistic prowess to transform traditional print photography into ethereal displays, illuminating Konami’s archival works with an otherworldly glow.
With a nod to the past and a vision for the future, Lim introduced a range that breathed new life into cherished memories—an embodiment of the quintessential 3.1 way of dressing. Effortless subversion defined the collection’s ethos, as classic workwear codes were deconstructed and reimagined. From utilitarian sergeant jackets paired with cargo pants to khaki sweatsuits infused with a touch of hype, Lim effortlessly blended functionality with fashion, offering a fresh take on at-leisure dressing.
Tailoring took center stage with a non-traditional twist, as deconstructed blazers featured adjustable buckles that cinched the waist, adding refinement to menswear for the female form. Continuing to build upon this theme of irreverent ease, Lim introduced pieces inspired by diverse influences, from ’50s cafe racer jackets styled with capri leggings to long denim maxi skirts paired with oversized merino wool turtlenecks.
