Along the shores of Shenzhen Bay, where the skyline seems to never stop climbing, Cheng Chung Design has finished a white and golden residence at One Bay Park. With Sunny Fu as lead designer, who supervised the interior design, art consulting and furniture selection, the project won the “Residential Design” category at the SIT Awards 2026.

Since the apartment overlooks the bay, the designers took the tides as inspiration and let them guide decisions at every turn, from the continuous circulation of the social areas down to the colours of the central sculpture.
The living and dining areas
The living and dining areas are located in a single open space with nothing separating or breaking the route between them, which means daily life moves through the apartment in one continuous sweep – much like the tide. Curved, sculptural seating was chosen for the living room, and, because it is modular, the owners can reconfigure it for work during the day, a family dinner in the evening or a larger social gathering at the weekend.
The dining area is arranged around a round table and a central island, and it is on the island that the apartment’s most important artwork was placed: a large semi-transparent acrylic bowl, hand-cast and polished by the artist Jonathan, one of only two in the world. Its blues and greens fit perfectly within the tidal theme.
A room with four functions
The studio created a multifunctional room with movable partitions, controlled by a smart system, which allows the clients to decide when to convert it into a study, a private office, a home cinema or a temporary guest suite. The room is decorated with handmade pieces paired with technological ones, a combination the designers set up deliberately to give the room some tension. The master bedroom, by contrast, is the most simple space in the apartment, designed around texture and intended for rest above all.
Materials from the coast
The material choices refer back to the setting: textured metal surfaces reflect the changing daylight in a way the designers compare to light moving across water, while wool carpets and layered fabrics soften the rooms and add warmth underfoot and to the touch.
