The SON dining table, created in collaboration between BOONG and designer Tran Ngoc Linh of IDEE Architects, draws on a minimalist design philosophy that evokes emotion and a connection to the natural world. The sculptural design transforms the beauty of monolithic material into a dining table that feels simultaneously lively and serene.

Like water embracing the mountain
Made from two large stone blocks, the table legs resemble two rustic, giant pebbles or small mountains standing majestically in space. Horizontal veins spanning along the surface are reminiscent of sediment layers and time-shaped geological formations. With their raw, geological texture, the legs that support the top bring a touch of nature into the interior, converted into the familiar form of a table. The monumental aesthetics of stone legs create subtle contrast with a slender tabletop.

And while the massive stone legs mimic the form of a mountain, the sleek top mimics the fluidity of water embracing the mountains. The material chosen for the countertop brings a rustic but refined feel, enabling subtle and deep light reflection. Furthermore, the tabletop’s design covers the entire technical structure of the table’s production, leaving only a clean, uninterrupted form where texture and proportion are the only noticeable elements.

A place for gathering and more
Featuring rounded edges and expandable length, the table can reach up to four meters, adapted to both smaller and large gatherings at the dining table. But SON is more than just a place for get-togethers. It’s a symbol of balance needed in every home, balance between lightness and heaviness, movement and stillness.

SON Dining Table by BOONG Studio
Drawing from a contemporary visual language based on materiality and proportions, the Vietnamese furniture brand BOONG creates functional pieces rooted in culture. Led by purpose and subtlety, BOONG Studio makes contemporary pieces reinterpreted through the lens of time and tradition. Each piece represents a dialogue between materials, people and time, marked by tactile surfaces, meticulously crafted details and material honesty.

In a time when design is heavily influenced by ornamentation and technological spectacle, the SON’s design took a quieter approach. The table emerges as a symbol of stillness and strength. Like a mountain that stands quietly in the surrounding space, bringing peace and balance. The symbol of serenity, the SON dining table returns to the basics, boasting original values of the table design.

With its massive, sturdy stone legs and a thin tabletop above, the SON dining table anchors the room while giving it an organic element. The juxtaposition between the heavy aesthetic of the legs and the light tabletop above brings balance and serenity to the space. SON Dining Table, designed by Tran Ngoc Linh for BOONG, won a SIT Furniture Design Award in the Dining Table category.
