LEMA’s New Furniture Collection Offers Two Distinct Expressions of Comfort

Two new pieces of LEMA’s 2026 design collection are representative of the brand’s remarkable design philosophy. Graffetta and Masami armchairs, designed by Carlo Colombo, are united by the same vision. One reimagines a simple everyday object while the other draws inspiration from the loving gesture of an embrace.

The design philosophy of LEMA

LEMA’s new collection reimagines comfort through two diverse expressions. The design draws from the company’s design philosophy that conveys a gesture, an intuition or a basic form into durable, functional objects. Informed by the ability to see the world from a fresh perspective, LEMA’s designs effortlessly balance design culture, aesthetics and functionality.

Incorporated into the second volume of LEMA’s Fell at Home catalogue, both designs portray the shared ambition of turning comfort into an experience achieved through balanced proportions and purity of form. Different in character and expression, both designs embody LEMA’s editorial narrative through two unique but complementary designs.

GRAFFETTA: Common object turned into an architectural piece

Sometimes the most unique objects of timeless beauty come from simple observations of our surroundings. Graffetta chair, for instance, reimagines the simple form of a paper clip. The clip’s silhouette inspired the armchair’s defining element, its tubular steel frame. A continuous, light line creates the outline that both embraces and protects the cushioning.

The generous cushion is juxtaposed with the rigid precision of the frame, resulting in a dialogue between structure and softness. More than a structural element, the frame becomes the heart of the design. A continuous gesture conveyed into a three-dimensional form brings an architectural presence to the chair and the place it inhabits.

The symbolism of a paperclip made specifically to connect diverse elements translates into a design that brings together precision, functionality, elegance and comfort. Graffetta encourages moments of genuine pause where every element exists in harmony without disrupting the design’s clean lines and continuity.

Masami: A lounge chair designed to embrace

Masami exists at the intersection of precision and comfort, turning the experience of sitting into a balanced and mindful ritual. Masami gets its name from a Japanese word that embodies understated elegance, rooted in harmonious proportions and a notion of balance. Two side panels open to envelope the seat in a continuous gesture inspired by the gentleness of an embrace.

Slender profiles and clear lines disrupt the compact, monolithic presence of Masami, resulting in a balanced relationship with the surroundings. The cushions are completely integrated into the overall composition, offering lasting comfort while keeping the purity of design intact. Masami turns relaxation into a spontaneous, natural act, expressing a vision that effortlessly combines essentiality and wellbeing.
