Caleydo lamp is a sustainable pendant made of recycled materials. The lamp, created by In-es.artdesign, has been developed by their research team, following the principles of circularity and eco-sustainability. Made of upcycled leftovers from the regular production process, the lamp is a mixture of steel, laprene, nebulite, and polycarbonate.
Caleydo dual colour combinations
Made of recycled materials in two transparent colours, the Caleydo lamp creates a kaleidoscopic play of two shades-one internal and one external.
Caleydo lamp got its name from a kaleidoscopic effect achieved through a refraction of two transparent colours, external and internal. After extensive empirical explorations, the company’s research team created a lamp that, depending on the ambient light, changes tone to one of the two transparent colours. This kaleidoscopic play of the emotional light is available in six colour combinations, each accompanied by a white cable:
- turquoise-orange,
- orange-magenta,
- magenta-turquoise,
- turquoise-magenta,
- magenta-orange,
- orange-turquoise
Dimensions
Apart from colour combinations, the buyers can also choose from several dimensions of the Caleydo Lamp.
- The first option has diffuser dimensions of Ø 18 cm, an E14 small Edison Screw 14mm diameter base and a recommended LED 6W bulb (maximum 8 W).
- The second option features a Ø 25 cm diffuser with the same E14 base and a recommended LED 8W bulb (maximum 10W).
- Caleydo 3’s Ø 35 cm diffuser is paired with a larger E27 diameter base and a recommended LED 13 W bulb (which is also a maximum),
- while Caleydo 4 comes with diffuser dimensions of Ø 50 cm, an E27 base and an LED 13 W bulb (max 15W).
Apart from these four, the company also offers a Caleydo Lamp Ceiling rose in the dimensions of Ø 12 cm x 4.5 cm.
In-es.artdesign: Merging art, design and philosophy
In-es. artdesign, a Rome-based company founded by Luciano M. Mazzilli, aka Oçilunam, merges two of his greatest passions: design and art. Founded in 2003, the company is known for its functional, layered designs reminiscent of natural phenomena such as moon waning or the passing of time. Reflecting the philosophical background of its founder, the company infuses its designs with a contemplative quality, starting with its name. In-es in the title stands for interior and exterior, symbolising both the firm’s portfolio (which consists of both interior and exterior lighting) as well as the tension between the external world of design and the more intimate, primitive world of the Freudian id. In-es. artdesign’s standout collection includes the moon-inspired Luna, be.pop, inspired by pop art and bebop movements, and the award-winning Matt collection.
By combining two changing colours in the same lamp, the Caleydo creates a subtle, organic glow that affects the ambience of the room with every change. The lighting fixture’s sustainable design is as environmentally conscious as it is visually engaging. The creator of the Caleydo lighting piece In-es.artdesign, was awarded the SIT Furniture Award in the Designer & Custom Lighting category.
