Three Tables, Three Unique Characters: The Table Series by Rutam IntArch

Indian design studio Rutam IntArch has released “The Table Series”, a collection of contemporary tables, each with its own distinct personality: “Can I Call You Rose”, “Anywhere Anytime” and “Kooky”. Founded in 1989 by Sheffalie Jhaveri, the studio became known for its residential interior design and architecture projects before extending into furniture, much of it made in-house.

The initial vision was that a table can have more than one character, so, instead of designing a single table and creating a collection from that, the studio designed three. The materials available are extensive, allowing customers to choose the pieces that best fit their personal style: the list introduces mild steel, wrought iron, MDF, HDMR (a high-density board more resistant to moisture than standard MDF), Burma teakwood, marble, glass and stone.

Can I Call You Rose

The first table was inspired by the rose, both its grace and its resilience. Slender stems and floral shapes were adapted into table forms with carefully balanced proportions, giving the pieces the look of flowers in bloom without compromising their strength. The collection is made in wrought iron: romantic and sculptural in appearance but built to last.

Anywhere Anytime

The second collection is more practical, having been born from the question, “What does a table look like when it has to belong everywhere?” Anywhere Anytime has clean lines and easy-to-style forms and is made from a small range of materials, all in the effort of making these tables fit a home as much as a studio, an office or a hotel. It is the most minimal of the three collections, made for everyday use, though the studio insists the versatility comes without giving up character.

Kooky

The third collection has vibrant colours, unexpected shapes and, put simply, can’t be missed. Kooky was designed to spark curiosity and conversation, but, beneath the playfulness, there’s a practical element: mild steel frames combined with MDF and Burma teakwood, with finishes that can be customised. Each piece was designed to be both a statement object and a dependable everyday table, proving that joyful design doesn’t need to compromise on performance.

The Table Series shows that a single furniture type can be anything a designer thinks of. From the floral ironwork of Can I Call You Rose to the adaptable simplicity of Anywhere Anytime and the exuberance of Kooky, the collection introduces the thought that a table can be multiple conflicting things at once.
