Stillo 16 is a pendant light made in California by Cerno, having been designed to fit stylistically within the brand’s existing pendant range. The new fixture uses a familiar mix of metal, wood, leather and brass-toned detailing, with its fitting built around an indirect LED source.
Laguna Beach in lamp form
Cerno describes the Stillo as a continuation of an existing design vision, which, in the company’s own words, draws from the mountains, beaches and culture of Laguna Beach.
The pendant fits the reference through a simple combination of spun metal, a leather suspension, and a turned-wood centrepiece. The shade is paired with a natural wood hub, lathe-turned into a domed form. This timber piece mirrors the spun-metal shape around it, so the inner and outer parts feel visually connected: in this design, wood and metal are treated as equals.
To suspend the piece, three leather straps rise from the shade and meet above it at a triangular top piece, with rounded accent pins holding everything together. Furthermore, Stillo was carefully designed to be glare-free, so the team from Cerno chose to use an indirect LED light source rather than a common exposed lamp.
Customisation
The available materials include powder-coated metal, brushed brass, distressed brass, leather in brown, black or tan, and wood finishes in walnut, dark-stained walnut, white-washed oak and white oak. These can be arranged to form different combinations, bringing the bit of individuality California is known for to any space.
Noir pairs a black exterior with a brushed brass interior, brushed brass accents, black leather and dark-stained walnut. Blanc uses white inside and out with brushed brass accents, tan leather and white-washed oak. Cava combines a white exterior with a brushed brass interior, brass accents, brown leather and walnut. Deux uses a black exterior, white interior, black accents, brown leather and walnut. Claire is finished in white with brushed brass accents, brown leather and white oak.
Key specs
The Stillo 16 measures 15.5 inches in diameter and 18 inches in height and weighs 4 pounds. It uses an integrated LED rated at 898 lumens at 3000K, with 90+ CRI and a 10W load. It is offered in 2700K, 3000K, 3500K and 4000K versions. Cerno notes that output varies by colour temperature and that published figures are based on a white interior shade, with other finishes reducing output.
The fixture uses a round canopy measuring 5 inches in diameter and 0.3 inches deep with an SVT-3 cable. Overall drop length is adjustable from 20 inches to 8 feet 6 inches. Cerno also states that versions with a white shade exterior are supplied with a white canopy and cord, while all other finishes receive a black canopy and cord. The listed electrical setup is 120V AC input with TRIAC and ELV dimming.
