S-CAB and Zaven Unveil the Koala Seat: A New Take on Indoor Comfort

S-CAB has teamed up with design duo Zaven for the first time, introducing the Koala indoor seat. This new piece was a highlight at the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2025, showing S-CAB’s continued focus on creating stylish and comfortable indoor furniture. The Koala isn’t just one chair; it’s a conversation between two different seating ideas, each with its own unique feel, adding more choice to what S-CAB offers.

Designed for comfort and style

The Koala chair, created by Zaven, is all about a soft, welcoming shape that’s made to be as comfortable as possible while fitting the body well.

“Koala is a seat with a gentle, enveloping design, created to offer maximum comfort while respecting the body’s ergonomics. Its metal structure not only ensures comfort and support, but also defines the form and enhances its full potential. The design is built around a metal ring that supports the backrest and embraces the seat, creating a soft and harmonious effect.”

The chair’s metal frame is key – it provides support and also gives the chair its distinctive look. A noticeable feature is a metal ring that holds the backrest and circles the seat, giving it a soft, rounded appearance.

Two ways to Koala

There are two styles of the Koala chair to choose from. The Koala accent chair has a cushioned, tub-like seat that gives it a plusher and more polished appearance. For a simpler, more graphic look, there’s the Koala Open accent chair. This version features a padded backrest supported by a tubular frame, offering a more casual and airy feel.

You can get the steel frame in several finishes: matt black nickel, anthracite, black, ochre, brick red, and olive green. When it comes to what it’s covered in, you have choices like wool, velvet, and faux leather, allowing you to match the Koala to your personal style.

S-Cab new items for 2025

While the Koala took center stage for indoor furnishings, S-CAB also presented other new items for 2025. These include the Brezza Relax chair by Alessandro Stabile for outdoor areas, the Malvasia Riviera accent chair by Francesca Lanzavecchia with a rope weave, and the Marisco rug by Maddalena Casadei. Updates to existing pieces by Meneghello Paolelli Associati, like the SI-SI chair now in a recycled plastic version and new Flap side tables, were also showcased.
