At Milano Design Week 2025, Glamora unveiled its Tramae Collection, a new way to think about wallpaper. This special edition collection takes its cues from the sand casting art of Italian sculptor Costantino Nivola and the look of sandy surfaces changed by time.
Walls with texture and depth
The standout feature of the Tramae Collection is its feel. These wallcoverings have a three-dimensional, sandy texture that turns flat walls into surfaces you want to reach out and touch. Glamora has figured out how to capture the effect of detailed handwork in a wallpaper that’s ready to apply, making a special, artistic look available for more spaces. The collection comes in two color variations: Pure White and Silk Grey.
What makes the Tramae Collection different is how it feels. These aren’t just flat coverings; they have a three-dimensional, sandy texture that makes you want to reach out and touch the walls. Glamora has figured out how to capture the effect of detailed handwork in a wallpaper that’s ready to apply, making a special, artistic look available for more spaces. The entire collection is available in two calm color options: Pure White and Silk Grey.
Inspired by an artist
The collection draws inspiration from Costantino Nivola (1911-1988), an Italian sculptor known for his work with sand casting. This technique gives the wallpapers their unique, textured quality, like miniature sand sculptures for your walls.
Exploring the patterns
Tramae includes four different patterns that can be arranged in modules: Ricami, Rilievi, Tracce, and Veli. Each design recalls the look of handmade objects changed by time and light.
- Ricami: This pattern has a soft, romantic quality. It’s inspired by old-fashioned hand weaving and the layers time creates. You notice tiny knots forming patterns that hint at nature or abstract shapes. The design uses a pleasing combination of raised areas and fine engraved lines, suggesting antique lace or detailed fabric work, but updated for today.
- Rilievi: This design plays with light to show off marks pressed into the surface, like traces left by time. It features irregular grooves and a balanced sequence of thin and thick vertical lines running across it. The texture is like the marks a comb might leave on fresh lime plaster that has softened over time. Its vertical lines can make a room feel taller.
- Tracce: This pattern reveals itself slowly and fits naturally into a room with quiet elegance. From a distance, the surface might look even, but up close, you see interesting details that are intentionally not perfect. Inspired by hand-knotted carpets, it reworks old designs in a modern way, suggesting worn surfaces where bits of pattern show through, like memories caught between engravings and washed-out areas.
- Veli: Veli is about the material itself in its simplest form. As the most basic pattern in the collection, it features a plain sandy finish, taking inspiration from sandblasted plaster and clay. Its surface has a tiny granular structure that absorbs light and releases it softly, giving walls an attractive, substantial quality. It’s designed to work well together with the more decorative patterns in the Tramae collection, offering a visual and tactile balance.
The material beneath: GlamOrigin
The foundation for the Tramae Collection is a material called GlamOrigin. It’s made by layering quartz powder onto a non-woven fabric base. This process creates textures with surprising depth. The surface looks sandblasted, almost sculpted, suggesting the effects of time and the interesting ways light and shadow can interact. This results in a “délabré” or deliberately worn and textured appearance, adding a lived-in character to the walls and highlighting the natural irregularities.
Creating unique spaces
With the Tramae Collection, Glamora continues its effort to find design solutions that mix traditional ideas with new methods. The goal is to create environments that feel unique and lasting. This textured collection gives designers new ways to add energy and personality to interiors, encouraging creative combinations between the different patterns and colors. Glamora aims to help create spaces that reflect personal style, using appealing materials, colors, and images to enrich interiors.
