Turning tech into art

Teklan, celebrated for her fearless use of colour and spatial storytelling, brings a fresh perspective to this collaboration. “Colour has the power to shift our perspective and encourage us to see everyday objects in new ways,” she explains.

“With this collaboration, I hope we can inspire more people to explore what colour can be and what it does for a home — inviting them to reconsider the role that home electronics can play. By approaching them as part of the home’s overall identity, we can create environments where colours, patterns, and technology come together naturally.”

IKEA Bluetooth speakers in fresh colors

To kick off the journey, IKEA is unveiling two updated versions of the VAPPEBY portable Bluetooth speaker, now featuring fresh color combinations and patterns. These new speakers are versatile and waterproof, offering up to 80 hours of playtime. The Bluetooth speakers offer a preview of what’s to come; a product line that explores how colour, pattern, and design can infuse more personality into home electronics.

Sara Ottosson, Product Developer at IKEA, explains:

“Home electronics is seen by many as something functional that you sometimes want to hide, and it can be difficult to make products blend naturally with the rest of the interior. Collaborating with Tekla Evelina Severin allows us to explore how colour and design can bring home furnishing and electronics closer together, with pieces that you are excited to display.”
