Porsche Asia Pacific continues its tradition of combining art with innovation by unveiling an extraordinary installation at ART SG 2025. This year, the luxury automotive brand collaborated with renowned Malaysian artist Red Hong Yi to present The Red Thread: Past, Present, Future – a striking multi-layered installation that explores themes of time, identity, and legacy.

60 shades of red

Spanning an impressive nine meters, The Red Thread is a perfect example of Porsche’s dedication to craftsmanship and artistic expression. The artwork incorporates 60 shades of red from Porsche’s exclusive Paint to Sample range, a nod to the 60th anniversary of Singapore’s independence from Malaysia. These hues, ranging from the historic Peru Red of the 1970s to the iconic Guards Red and modern Carmine Red, symbolize the brand’s evolution while paying homage to its heritage.

Flanked by mirrors, the installation creates an illusion of infinity, reinforcing the idea of continuity and reflection. At the heart of the piece lies a subtly embedded outline of the Porsche 911’s iconic flyline – an homage to one of the most enduring and celebrated designs in automotive history.

Porsche’s commitment to art and innovation

Porsche’s collaboration with Red Hong Yi marks a continued engagement with contemporary art at ART SG. Previous large-scale installations have included Remember Your Dreams by Cyril Lancelin (2022), Dream Big by Chris Labrooy (2023), and Two-car Garage by Marc Fornes (2024). Each year, Porsche reinforces its commitment to artistic ingenuity and cultural dialogue.

“This partnership with Red Hong Yi underlines our dedication to pushing boundaries and exploring new dimensions of creativity,” says Yannick Ott, Director of Marketing at Porsche Asia Pacific.

“Our conversations with Red revealed a shared fascination with time – the interplay between past, present, and future. The 911, now in its eighth generation, is a perfect example of this philosophy, where innovation meets heritage.”

More than an exhibition

Beyond ART SG, where Porsche serves as the official automotive partner, the Porsche Studio Singapore hosted a series of art-themed events. Highlights included unveiling a one-of-a-kind 911 Dakar art car by celebrated automotive artist Chris Dunlop, which debuted in Singapore over the weekend of January 18 – 19, and a Driving Tomorrow panel discussion featuring both Red Hong Yi and Dunlop.
