Mexico City is once again the capital of creativity as Design Week Mexico returns for its sixteenth edition, held under the compelling theme “Diseñando el Futuro.” This year’s event promises to blend innovation and efficiency in design, showcasing a wide range of practical solutions for our world’s current and future challenges. With an eye on sustainability and cutting-edge creativity, the event seeks to inspire designers to think pragmatically while driving positive change in society and the environment.
From October 7 to November 3, Mexico City transforms into a design hub, where exhibitions, workshops, and talks explore the intersection of technology, craftsmanship, and creative innovation. This edition’s highlights include the participation of Colombia as a Guest Country and Aguascalientes as a Guest State, further expanding the event’s international and cultural reach.
Colombian design will shine through Inédito, where new and disruptive design proposals are introduced, and Vision & Tradition, a collaborative program merging contemporary design with traditional craftsmanship. Colombian designers will work alongside Mexican artisans, creating a unique synergy that showcases the rich cultural heritage of both countries.
The Visión & Tradición residency program offers an especially exciting opportunity for collaboration. Colombian designers and artisans from Aguascalientes will come together to explore new forms of design. Their shared vision promises to produce innovative and culturally enriched pieces that reflect the richness of artisanal traditions while pushing the boundaries of modern design. The result will be displayed at the iconic National Museum of Anthropology, making it one of the most anticipated exhibits of the event.
In keeping with Design Week Mexico’s commitment to showcasing emerging talent, the PRINT 2024 exhibition will feature graphic designers, muralists, and illustrators worldwide. Under the theme “Designing the Future,” this exhibition offers participants a global platform to share their vision of a sustainable, inclusive future through art and design.
Whether it’s the forward-thinking solutions in the Design House, where architecture and interior design meet to create extraordinary spaces, or the Expo Territorio, featuring works from both established and emerging designers, Design Week Mexico 2024 celebrates the transformative power of design. With its blend of creativity, innovation, and cultural exchange, this year’s edition is set to leave an indelible mark on the global design landscape.
