The Benjamin Chair, designed by Brazilian architect Lucas Bond for Decormade, has successfully managed to mix traditional manufacturing techniques with modern technology, all while ensuring that it can cater to different aesthetics. Decormade, founded in 1974, is a well-known Brazilian brand that focusses on designing pieces of furniture able to bring a bit of character to any space.
The chair’s body is made out of hardwood, and customers can pick their favourite out of either walnut, oak, or ash. Similarly, one can also take their pick of the materials available for the seat. Natural straw, fabric, or leather not only cater to different vibes but also, in their own way, further enhance the “living the high-quality vintage life” the chair seems to scream.
But good materials need their justice made. To create the frame, the wood has to go through several machining processes, some automatic and some precise, until it reaches its final shape, which shows the durability of the material. Afterwards, the quality of every single detail is ensured by skilled carpenters who handle the final assembly. The result is a design that can match different interior styles without losing its essence—an essence that, in our opinion, kind of seems to softly hum the best Bossa Nova hits through the chair’s high-quality wood.
