Colours are part of our daily lives, either on the lively yellow of lemons, the familiar blue of the sky, or on the endless array of colourful flowers. With so many heart-warming colours, it’s no wonder some want to paint their own little colourful world in the intimacy of their homes.
Some colours are easy to combine: blue looks great with almost anything, and white and black don’t need any comment. However, some colours can get tricky, almost shy as they don’t appear to enjoy sharing their space with other colours. In light of this, let’s explore some colourful combinations that can hopefully give you some inspiration.
Sky Blue & Sage Green
The sky blue creates a serene ambience in the room while the olive green, an earthy tone, brings in some warmth to the space. This seemingly obvious, yet underdone, lightly moody combination is perfect for a dynamic household where vibes are created anywhere, anytime.
Lilac Purple & Scarlet Red
A bold shade of purple not only adds depth to a room but also creates a sense of luxury – this is, perhaps, rooted in more traditional perceptions, but everyone deserves their share of opulence in our opinion. To complement the purple, add a rich red to solidify the drama. A room in these colours deserves a constant flow of music and energy, as we’re sure anyone who goes for this combination will most likely deliver.
Flamingo Pink & Moss Green
This modern combination screams “cool” as the pink gives off a sweet vibe and the contrasting green adds personality. Eclectic in nature, this is the perfect combo for a dynamic person who knows what they want.
Deep Brown & Forest Green
This rich brown envelops the room in sophistication, which is enhanced by the tones of green in the room. The combination of these colours creates depth and a dramatic effect that screams for a book: dark academia meets cottage core.
Cherry Blossom Pink & Vermillion Orange
This fun combination reminds us of candy: the light pink surrounds the environment in warmth and, suddenly, a pop of bright orange makes an appearance. Sometimes thought to be hard to balance together, pink and orange can enhance each other depending on the tonalities chosen. This combo is perfect for someone who loves a challenge and is not afraid to get their hands dirty.
Pistachio Green & Melon Orange
The combination of this fruity colours creates a whimsical and energetic room. The light green sets the ambience and the touch of soft orange stirs things up a bit, just enough to make you want to eat a fruit salad while listening to your favourite album.
Grapefruit Red & Eton Green
The soft and blueish green forms a serene environment which, even though rich on its own, is complemented by the bold contrast of this strong red. This combination shows how these colours can complement each other perfectly as they look extra alive when together.
Peach Pink & Navy Blue
This combo is rightfully adored by many since the gentle pink softly dances with the deep blue, creating the perfect balance between warm and cold. This sophisticated combination can be enjoyed by anyone, no matter the personal style, and is the perfect backdrop for a lively soirée with friends.
